Nocona's First Annual Grasshopper Festival held August 12, 2000. Thanks to the kids and adults who braved the North Texas summer temperatures to participate and enjoy the fun, food, games and events in downtown Nocona!
So sit back and enjoy our photo tour of Nocona's First Annual Grasshopper Festival.
Horseshoes, Washer Pitching, StickHopper Rodeo, HopScotch, Marbles, Grasshopper Ropin' and Horseshoeing, Jump Rope, Jacks, Bocce Ball, Pie eating contest, Costume contest, Talent show, Bubble gum blowing contest, Body Painting and Bike Safety Rodeo along with the opening parade were the events available for everyone's enjoyment.
All kids 12 and under were welcome to try any and all events and they even got to keep the event prizes. Everybody won Grasshopper prize ribbons to celebrate our first festival.
Some top hands turned out for the StickHopper rodeo. All participants were so good at the ropin' and ridin' that everybody took home a Grasshopper Festival prize ribbon for their efforts.
With games played, ribbons won and good food to eat, some of the kids even found a way to wear some food home!
